In this article, you will have links to Download macOS Catalina Installer – DMG and VMDK File. As you might know that in 2019 we were gifted with the new operating system of Mac. MacOS Catalina was completely released on October 7, 2019. Download file:-PowerISO: Mac OS X downloads: http://osx.vn/threads/tong-hop-link-download-mac-os-x-10-4-10-11-3-orginal-tu-mac-a.

I was recently wanting to convert all of my old hard drives from old computers to VMDKs so that I could run the drive virtually in VMware, but I couldn’t find a way to do it so that’s why I’m writing this now. Most other guides would use Disk2vhd and use Hyper-V but most people don’t have a pro version of Windows to use that or some guides would say to use VMware vCenter Converter but the physical machine has to be running and I only have the hard drive so I can’t use that. Then I found StarWind V2V Converter which can convert a VHD (and VHDX) file from Disk2vhd and that’s what this guide is going to use.

Stuff to get beforehand

  • Download Disk2vhd and StarWind V2V Converter (or click this link to download StarWind V2V Converter without giving your info away).
  • Buy a SATA (or IDE) to USB adapter to easily connect the old hard drive to your computer.

Easy2Convert - convert everything! You can do it on Mac OS as also! The good start point is this guide. It gave me the idea about how to do this. Here are the steps to make.vmdk image from.dmg. Double click your hdd.dmg to mount it.; Open Disk Utility and select your hdd volume in the left side. Then press Unmount button. With a.dmg Whether the resulting.vdi will be usable may depend on the content of the.dmg. If the format of the.dmg was entire device, then VBoxManage convertfromraw should produce a usable virtual disk image. Without a.dmg It's possible to produce a.vdi from a device (from a physical disk, or a slice of a disk) without an intermediary.dmg.

UPDATE

(12/05/2018): I’ve recently found Vmdk2Phys which is still in beta (and doesn’t look the best) but is more straightforward then following the guide below. Vmdk2Phys also supports converting VMDKs to physical drives.

  1. Open Disk2vhd and untick all volumes except the one you want to virtualize and pick a location to output the file to, then click the ‘Create’ button. It will take a while to finish depending on the size and speed of your drive.
  2. Once Disk2vhd finishes open StarWind V2V Converter select ‘Local file’ and click ‘Next >’ when it asks for the ‘Source image location’
  3. Select the ‘Source image’ then click ‘Next >’
  4. Select the format you want to convert to (the 1st and 3rd option are probably the most compatible option with VMware Workstation Player)
  5. Select the ‘Virtual disk type’ (Select the one most compatible with the windows installation eg. IDE for Windows XP)
  6. Set your destination file location then click ‘Next >’
  7. Run the converted file in VMware Workstation Player

What is the difference between Clone and Backup? In what cases should I use Clone?

Clone will copy one disk to another or one partition to another (unallocated space is also supported). Usually, this option is used to upgrade the current disk by creating an identical copy. Backup will generate a .PBD image file containing the selected files or system that can be restored from the .PBD image if needed.

What is the difference between System Backup and Disk Backup?

System Backup will auto-select the system boot related partition(s) as the backup source to make sure the system image can be restored properly. Disk/Partition Backup will allow you to manually select a whole disk or speficy a certain partition as the backup source. You will get the same backup result as System Backup if you manually select the system and boot partitions with the Disk/Partition Backup option.

As a computer newbie, what features should I use to protect my computer?

You can use System Backup to back up the system and boot partitions, use Disk/Partition backup to back up the data partition and add plans to run an automatic backup. If you use the computer frequently or have software that may cause boot failure of the computer, we would suggest you back up the computer every 1 to 2 days. For other situations, you can backup the computer once a week. In addition, you can schedule File Backup to back up the files which are changed frequently.

What kind of storage service should I use to save my backup images?

EaseUS Todo Backup can save backup images to internal disks, external disks, network drives, or free cloud(Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive) and CD/DVD. It is suggested to save the images to the internal/external/network drives to save time as those kinds of disks have a better read-write speed. It is suggested NOT to save the image on the source disk, because once the disk is damaged, all the files on the disk will become unavailable and you will be unable to restore the image.

As a company network administrator, what features should I use to protect our internal computers?

It is recommended that you use the SQL Backup feature to back up your company's SQL server and Exchange Backup feature to back up the Exchange server. In addition, you can execute System Backup to back up the system and boot partitions on every computer and set a plan to execute the backup once a day or twice a week to ensure that the computer can be restored timely when it has boot issues. File Backup feature can be used to back up important user data. If there are a large quantity of computers, you can purchase EaseUS Backup Center to manage the backups on the client computers centrally.
