With an impressive laser scanning area of 250 mm in diameter and 205 mm in height, expert users can 3D scan a physical object almost the size of a volleyball! The scanning platform is rotated by a standard stepper motor which can precisely rotate an object up to 3 kilograms or 6.6 pounds in weight. The two scanning lasers capture fine surface details with a 3D scanning precision of 0.5 mm (500 microns).
Once you have assembled your Ciclops 3D scanner, you'll use Horus to calibrate and operate the 3D scanner. Horus will scan your physical object and generate a PLY file. We recommend using Blender and MeshLab to clean and edit the file and to finally generate a 3D printable model in the STL format. Use Cura LulzBot Edition to 3D print your digital model!
